The Monumental will now be equipped with a roof covering the entire stadium.
River Plate is working with Schlaich Bergermann Partner, the world-leading German firm in designing roofs for major stadiums. They have notably worked on the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the Allianz Arena in Munich, the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, and the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.
Work is scheduled to begin in April 2026, lasting a total of 1.5 years until the end of 2027.
