The 2026 World Cup has just ended, it's time to look towards the next edition in 2030.

The 2030 World Cup will be very special: it will celebrate the centenary of the World Cup, whose first edition took place in 1930 in Uruguay. For this occasion South America will host 3 opening matches. The rest of the competition will be played in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. 

For the first time in history, 6 countries will host a World Cup.

With 48 (or 64 teams), many stadiums are necessary to organise the 104 matches (or more if there are 64 participants) of the competition. For the 2026 edition in the United States, Canada and Mexico, 16 stadiums were used.

23 stadiums have already been announced to host the 2030 World Cup. Attention, this list is likely to change in the event of changes in decisions, particularly concerning stadiums to be renovated.

• Agadir - Adrar Stadium (46,000) - Renovation.

• Buenos Aires - Monumental (84,567) - Renovation.
• Montevideo - Centenario (60,235) - Renovation.
• Asuncion - Estadio Conmebol (47,000) - Reconstruction.

 

Malaga and La Coruña replaced by Vigo and Valencia.

Initially, Malaga's La Rosaleda and La Coruña's Riazor stadium were supposed to host the event. Finally, these 2 stadiums withdrew and were replaced by Vigo's Balaidos stadium and Nou Mestalla in Valencia.

Many stadiums must be renovated to increase their capacity for the World Cup and some to comply with FIFA standards.
