Lumen Field

Lumen Field was previously called "Seahawks Stadium", "Qwest Field" (2004) and "CenturyLink Field" (2011). It is an American football and soccer stadium, located in the SoDo neighbourhood in Seattle. It was built on the site of the former Kingdome, which was demolished in 2000. The stadium also hosts multiple events and concerts.

Since 2002, it has been home to the Seattle Seahawks, an American football team (NFL) and two soccer teams, the Seattle Sounders (MLS).

The stadium is easily recognisable by the exceptional design of its roof.
Its distinctive horseshoe shape allows for views of the surrounding panorama (Seattle's downtown and its buildings) through the opening on the North side.
A 13-storey tower, the Hawk Nest, offers 3,000 spectacular seats. Scores are displayed at the top of the tower. 

Lumen Field will host matches at the FIFA World Cup 2026. To comply with FIFA regulations, the stadium will be called Seattle Stadium during the World Cup.

In 2023 the stadium was divided into zones and the gates named:

• South: Rainier
• East: Cascade 
• West: Olympic

How to get to Lumen Field by public transport?

🚇 by Metro with Link Light Rail

From the Seattle Southside stations "Angle Lake", "SeaTac/Airport" and "Tukwila International Blvd."
Line 1: The stations "Stadium" (for North entrances) and "International District/Chinatown" (for South entrances) are located near the stadium.
Trains run every 15 minutes at weekends but stop at midnight or 1am depending on the day.

The Seattle Tramway First Hill line serves the stations "S Jackson Street", "Occidental" and "5th & Jackson" (approximately 500m from the stadium)

🚍 by Bus

15 bus lines from Sound Transit Express/Metro County King go to the vicinity of Lumen Field.

🚆 by Train with the Sounder Train

King Street Station is located near the stadium. Lines run to Lakewood and Everett.

🅿️ Two car parks are located at Lumen Field (North Lot and Lumen Field Parking Garage covered) and spaces can be reserved online, but the number of spaces is limited. Covered car park spaces are reserved for season ticket holders. It is recommended to use public transport. 

🅿️P+R : There are P+R car parks at Angle Lake, Tukwila International Boulevard and Northgate stations of the "Link Light Rail" tram company. It is recommended to get off at SODO, ID/Chinatown or Pioneer Square stations close to the stadium.

🚲 There are bike racks at the North West corner of Lumen Field and near the T-Mobile Park south of the covered car park.

🚘 Ride-sharing / Carpooling
Drop-off and pick-up points are "King St. & Occidental" on the north side or "Royal Brougham & Occidental" on the south side of the stadium.

🛅 Does Lumen Field offer a cloakroom service?
Rules regarding authorised or unauthorised bags are particular. Bags must be completely transparent with a maximum size of 30x30cm.
A "Walker's Lockers" cloakroom service is open on match days. Cloakroom facilities are located at the North and South entrances.

👀 What to do / What to see in Seattle?

Seattle is a port city with an ultra-modern downtown. Skyline and mountain panoramas.

Its historic neighbourhood is Pioneer Square.
🏢 In this neighbourhood, the Smith Tower is one of the city's historic buildings (corner of Second Avenue and Yesler Way). On the 35th floor, an observation deck offers panoramic views of the city.🔭

Pike Place Market is a famous market of very ancient origin. It is home to, for example, the "Pike Brewing Company" microbrewery 🍻 or many local producers.

✨ At the top of the Space Needle tower is an observation deck (184m high).
It is a glass-fronted panoramic terrace from floor to ceiling that offers magnificent views of the downtown and panorama. Below is a rotating café also entirely glass.

The Chihuly Garden and Glass is a place where the works of Dale Chihuly, a famous glass artist born in the Seattle area, are exhibited. 

The Museum of Popular Culture (PopOP) is near the Space Needle.

The Experience Music Project is a museum dedicated to music. It's worth a look, if only for the tangle of nearly 200 guitars that makes up its hall. Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) were natives of the region and largely inspired the founder of this museum. 

🚆 The Seattle Monorail, built for the 1962 World's Fair, is still today a practical means of transport and rather unique. Particularly, it runs through the air.

The Olympic Sculpture Park 🌳 is a waterfront park north of downtown. The walks are lined with sculptures including "Red Eagle Taking Flight" by Alexander Calder or "Echo" by Jaume Plensa.

The Waterfront is a fairly lively neighbourhood. It borders Elliott Bay to the west of downtown. There are many seafood restaurants, shops and Seattle's great wheel or the aquarium. Stroll along the quays (30 minutes walk).

🐬 The Aquarium is located at Pier 59.
🎡 The Great Wheel and its air-conditioned cabins is at the end of Pier 57.
🛳️ Take one of the Washington State Ferries at Pier 52 for a short cruise on the lake. Some offer trips to see orcas in Puget Bay for example.

🏯 Visit Chinatown starting with its great traditional gate.

Alki Beach 🏖️ in West Seattle is lined with restaurant terraces and shops.

Visit the Museum of Flights (Boeing) in Georgetown or better yet, visit the inside of the Boeing factory in Mukilteo (30 minutes from Seattle).✈️

🥪 On the culinary specialities side, you must try salmon or Dungeness crab (dormouse crab).
Melrose Market located on Melrose Avenue is made up of stalls of good things to taste.
The city has a cult following for Starbucks, whose first opened in 1971 is located opposite Pike Place Market.
