Smoking will be banned in French stadiums from 1st July!
The Minister of Health has announced new legislation coming into force from 1st July to ban smoking in places where children are present, including stadiums.
Some stadiums already applied this rule, but it is now a law for all stadiums in France: smoking will be banned in French stadiums from 1st July.
As World No Tobacco Day approaches on Saturday 31st May, Catherine Vautrin, the Minister of Labour, Health, Solidarity and Families, announced a new law banning smoking in "beaches, public parks and gardens, school entrances, bus shelters and sports facilities".
This law is mainly linked to children: "Where there are children, tobacco must disappear" said Catherine Vautrin.
Many stadiums have already attempted to ban smoking in their grounds, providing smoking areas in the concourses... In Germany in particular, you also find specific family stands where smoking is banned.
This new law comes into force from 1st July.
