Like every end of season, the Serie B playoffs are a thrilling and exciting period with one objective for 6 clubs: reaching Serie A, Italy's top division.
The Serie B play-offs for the 2024/2025 season will take place from 15 May to 1 June 2025.
The Serie B play-outs for the 2024/2025 season will take place on 17 May and 22 May 2025.
The top 2 teams in Serie B are automatically qualified for Serie A at the end of the season.
The Serie B system is a bit particular: after finishing the season with 38 matches, playoffs are organised between 3rd and 8th place to determine which will be the 3rd club to join the top flight.
Here is an explanation of the system:
- Quarter-finals
- 5th hosts 8th.
- 6th hosts 7th.
- 1 match only between each team.
- In case of a draw there are extra time. In case of a draw at the end of extra time there are no penalties, the better-ranked team from the regular season qualifies.
- Semi-finals
- The 2 qualifiers face 3rd and 4th.
- Home and away ties, 3rd and 4th teams host the return leg.
- In case of a draw on aggregate after the 2 matches there are no extra time or penalties, the better-ranked team from the regular season qualifies.
- Final
- Home and away tie
- The better-ranked team from the regular season hosts the return leg.
- In case of a draw on aggregate after the 2 matches there are no extra time or penalties, the better-ranked team from the regular season qualifies.
