The Wankdorf Stadium is also called Stade de Suisse. It takes its name from the Wankdorf district where it is located. It is also a shopping complex and conference centre.
The old stadium built in 1925 was demolished in 2001 to make way for the current stadium inaugurated in 2005.
Wankdorf Stadium hosted group matches at Euro 2008.
It features an artificial pitch that allows it to host events and concerts. This pitch is covered as needed by natural grass which is then removed (for Euro 2008 for example).
