Stade Rajko Mitić (Marakana)

Rajko Mitic Stadium is the home of Red Star Belgrade. It also hosts the Serbian national football team.

It was nicknamed "The Marakana" following renovation work that increased its capacity to 110,000 seats in 1964.
Its capacity had to be reduced by half to meet UEFA criteria.

It has borne the name Rajko Mitic since 2014 in honour of a legendary striker.

Formerly: Stadion Crvena zvezda (Red Star Stadium).

It was built on the site of the old stadium, the SK Jugoslavija Stadion, which had become too dilapidated and was demolished in 1959.

The architectural peculiarity of this stadium is that it is largely built underground.

How to get to Rajko Mitic Stadion by public transport?

The stadium is accessible by tram lines 9, 10 and 14 (direction Banjica). 

The tram 9 departs from the central station, 
tram 10 from the historic centre (Cara Dusana street, for example) 
and tram 14 from Tasmajdan Park (which line 10 also serves). 
Get off at Trg Oslobodenja square.

You can also take trolleybus 40 or 41. 
Bus 40 can be boarded from Takovska avenue west of the city centre 
and bus 41 from Trg Studentski square in the heart of the city.

Rajko Mitic Stadium is 3.5km from the railway station (45 minutes on foot). It is easily accessible by public transport (tram or trolleybus).

There is no left luggage facility at the stadium.

The stadium is located in a residential area which offers few dining options.
