Key facts

Discover all practical information about Stade Polonia Warszawa, home of Polonia Varsovie, one of Poland's oldest clubs.

Polonia Varsovie, nicknamed the Czarny Koszulki (Black Shirts) for its emblematic colour, experienced a glorious period with titles in 1998 and 2000, before a bankruptcy in 2014. Taken over in 2020 by Grégoire Nitot, a French entrepreneur, the club returned to the Betclic I. Liga (second division) in 2023, after 16 years of absence.

A stadium steeped in history

The stadium was inaugurated in 1928, 17 years after the club's creation, which proudly bears a Latin name meaning "Poland". This patriotic name was born under Russian occupation, marking an act of defiance and courage.
During the Second World War, the stadium was entirely destroyed, like 85% of Warsaw. It reopened in 1950 after a partial reconstruction, but has undergone little modernisation since. In November 2024, a new stadium project was approved: a modern 16,000-capacity venue will be built on the same site.
