Seville's Olympic Stadium was originally built for the Athletics World Championships in 1999 with the 2004 Olympics in mind, which ultimately took place in Athens. It retained that name.

It was selected for Euro 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, only 16,000 spectators were allowed to attend matches.

It is one of the largest stadiums in the country. It is located in the La Cartuja district.

No club has made this stadium its home. It regularly hosts matches of La Roja (Spain's team) or Copa del Rey finals. It hosts Real Betis Seville and FC Seville when their respective stadiums are undergoing renovation.

Seville's Cartuja Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium that also hosts major events and concerts.

How to get to Seville's Olympic Stadium by public transport?

🚅 by train Line C2 from Seville station, "Sevilla-Santa Justa" train station, get off at "Estadio Olimpico" train station, then 5 minutes on foot

🚍 by bus, Line C2 direction La Cartuja, get off at the stop "Juan Bautista Munoz (Estadio Olimpico)", then 10 minutes on foot

🅿️ Parking is usually reserved on match days. If you wish to drive there, you need to plan your journey in advance as there are few car parks in this area. You can use the site "parkimeter.com".

👀 What to do / What to see in Seville?

Welcome to the capital of Andalusia, a region very rich in tourist attractions.

The centre of Seville reflects the Moorish atmosphere of this region well.

Stroll through the historic centre (Santa Cruz) and its maze of jasmine-scented alleyways, the atmosphere is warm and the terraces welcoming. Special mention for Plaza Dona Elvira, Plaza de Cabildo, Plaza de los Venerables, Plaza de Santa Cruz, Callejon del Agua or Calle Cruces.

🏰 Don't miss the must-sees: the Alcazar (royal palace) where you will enter through the Puerta del Leon, the Cathedral 💒 which houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus and the Giralda tower, a remnant of the former Moorish mosque, whose summit offers a magnificent view over the city. For palace lovers, it is possible to visit Casa de Pilatos, Palacio de las Duenas or Casa de Salinas (guided tours only). The Hospital de los Venerables is also worth a visit.

🚨 It is recommended to book your tickets for the Alcazar or the Cathedral in advance as places are limited and there is a lot of footfall! There are combined tickets for several sites.

For the postcard view, head to Plaza de Espana in the lovely Maria Luisa park and its profusion of Azulejos (tiles) decorating the benches in particular.💮

Among the curiosities you'll find Setas de Sevilla (Seville Mushrooms), a surprising construction offering a panoramic terrace where you can have a refreshment.

The Guadalquivir river runs through the city. It is lined by the Torre del Oro and the Arenal district, its restaurants and Mercado (market). Boat excursions with a wide variety of themes are possible. For example, there are excursions with tapas tasting.🚤

Nearby is Spain's most important arena dedicated to bullfighting, the Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza.
