Signal Iduna Park (BVB Stadion Dortmund) hosted matches during Euro 2024

It is Germany's largest stadium. It was built for the 1974 FIFA World Cup.

Formerly known as "BVB Stadion" and "Westfalenstadion". It has undergone several renovations.

This stadium is home to the club "Ballspielverein Borussia Dortmund", BVB, more commonly known as Borussia Dortmund. This club is famous for its colours, yellow and black, hence the nickname "Schwarz-Gelben". Its name "Borussia" comes from a local brewery and the 09 on its badge "BVB 09" recalls the year it was founded in 1909.

Signal Iduna Park is renowned for its famous "Yellow Wall" (Südtribüne). It is Europe's largest standing terrace with a capacity of 24,454 seats. 100m wide and 40m high, inclined at 37 degrees. Impressive Tifos are displayed by supporters who also lead chants echoed by the 80,000 people present, including the traditional "You'll never walk alone". Chills guaranteed. 

How to buy tickets for a Dortmund match at Signal Iduna Park?

🎟️ Tickets for Dortmund matches at Signal Iduna Park are sold on the club's official ticket office.

🔒 Access to Dortmund ticket sales is very complicated as you usually have to be a member.

🪪 Membership costs €62/year, you need to fill out a form and wait between 1.5 to 3 months to be validated. All the information can be found here.

✅ Sales can open to the general public about 2 weeks before the match against opponents with the smallest fan base (Leipzig or Hoffenheim for example). This generally only accounts for 2 to 4 matches per season, the smaller ones, but stay tuned nonetheless.

🔄 Note that season ticket holders can resell their ticket, so there may be ticket appearances at any time (accessible to members or the general public depending on the rest of the sale).

How to get to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK by public transport or train?

🚇 Various U-bahn (metro), S-bahn (RER-type) or RB (regional train) lines lead to the stadium:

• From the main station to entrances A/B/D/E: U45📍 Exit Stadion on match days (2 min) or Westfalenhallen (7 min)
• From the main station to entrance C: RB52 / RB53 / RB57 / RB59 📍 Exit Signal-Iduna-Park
• From the city centre: U46 📍Exit Westfalenhallen (2 min) or U42 📍 Exit Theodor-Fliedner-Heim (5 min)

How to get to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK?

Here are some landmarks to access the stadium from Dortmund's main railway station (routes that go through the city centre to the stadium):

🚶‍♂️ 40 minutes on foot

🚉  25 minutes by public transport

🚲  10 minutes by bike / e-scooter

 

✅ Signal Iduna Park is very accessible on foot from the city centre or the station and it's a safe way to control your schedule.

⚠️ Make sure you check your stand entrance, this will save you having to walk all the way around the stadium to access it.

 

What car parks are available in Dortmund?

🅿️ 10,000 paid parking spaces are located around SIGNAL IDUNA PARK and the Messezentrum Westfalenhallen - It is still not recommended to use a car as traffic is regularly disrupted in this area.

During regular matches, other car parks are also available at TU Dortmund university where free shuttles run between the campus and the stadium.

🅿️🚉 There are also many Park and Ride facilities in Dortmund. 

📍 These park and ride facilities are located on the outskirts of the city, most of them are free and you'll need to complete your journey by public transport.

🚕 by TAXI

There is only one place near the stadium to be dropped off by taxi: Wittekindstraße 

The taxi services available in Dortmund are Bolt and Freenow.

🛴 by E-SCOOTER

Various e-scooter rental companies (or e-bikes) in free-floating service are available in Dortmund: Bolt, Tier, Voi

📍 Only place near the stadium to drop off your e-scooter: Ice sports centre Westfalen

⚠️ Pay careful attention to the parking zone on arrival (large areas are banned for e-scooter parking).

 

How to travel to Dortmund?

✈️ To reach Dortmund by plane, 2 airports are possible:

- Dortmund Airport, a direct bus takes you to Dortmund railway station in 25 minutes (tickets can be purchased at the ticket machines on site or on the bus). There are no direct flights from French cities to Dortmund.
- Düsseldorf International Airport, the country's 3rd largest airport. Allow 1 hour with a shuttle at Düsseldorf followed by a regional train to Dortmund (free with your match ticket).

🛏️ Accommodation tips in Dortmund

🚆 Germany has an extremely comprehensive rail network.

🌙 Several trains (local, regional or national) run in the evening / overnight.
