RheinEnergie Stadion hosted matches during EURO 2024. It was one of the smallest stadiums in the tournament. 

RheinEnergie Stadion has been home to FC Cologne since 1948. It also hosts American football, ice hockey and concerts.

🏟️ It was rebuilt for the 2006 World Cup. On the same site previously stood Sportpark Müngersdorf (1923) and then Müngersdorfer Stadion (1975). Four coloured light towers located at the corners of the stands are its distinctive feature.

It is considered by German supporters as one of the most beautiful and impressive stadiums in Germany.

 

 

How do I buy tickets for a 1. FC Köln match at RheinEnergie Stadion?

🎟️ Tickets for Cologne matches can be found on the club's online ticketing platform (direct link under "official ticketing" below). There are approximately 15,000 tickets available for sale at each match.

🪪 A pre-sale for members takes place for all matches, and ticket sales generally remain entirely reserved for members.

📆 There are generally 2 ticket sales phases: a pre-sale takes place several months before the match for a large part of the season. There is then a second sale between 1.5 months and 1 month before the match.

💸 Ticket prices generally range from 15 to 70€.

🔃 A resale system is in place, allowing season ticket holders and all ticket holders to resell their tickets. Resold spaces can appear at any time on the same online match ticketing platform. This resale is generally only accessible to members. There is a 15% buyer fee.

⚔️ Cologne has 3 main regional rivals for a "Rhine derby": Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and Fortuna Düsseldorf.

🤝 Cologne fans maintain a certain friendship with Borussia Dortmund supporters. Some of the ultras also have friendship links with former Parisian ultra groups from the Auteuil stand.

 

How do I get to RheinEnergie Stadion by public transport?

🚆 by S-Bahn train, there are 2 options from the station (located in the city centre)

Lines S12 or S19 (direction Horrem/Düren). Get off at Müngersdorf Technologiepark. Journey time 10 mins + 25 minutes on foot.
Lines S12 or S19 (direction Horrem/Düren). Get off at Weiden West and take Tram 1 (direction Bensberg). Get off at RheinEnergieSTADION / Cologne Stadium. Journey time 30 mins + 5 minutes on foot.

How do I get to RheinEnergie Stadion?

🚗 by car

🅿️ There are 7,500 car parking spaces around the stadium, but bear in mind that the exit after the match is quite complicated and you will need to be patient.

💡 A P+R is very practical for RheinEnergie Stadium: the Weiden West P+R. Take Tram 1 (direction Bensberg). Get off at RheinEnergieSTADION / Cologne Stadium. Journey time 10 mins + 5 minutes on foot.

3,200 bike parking spaces are located near the stadium on Junkersdorfer Strasse, at S1 car park and in the East and North perimeter of the stadium

 

🚆 The Ruhr is a very densely populated region with many cities and villages in a restricted area. It is easy to travel by train from one city to another at any time of day.

How do I travel to Cologne?

✈️ To get to Cologne by plane, 2 airports are available:

Düsseldorf International Airport, the country's 3rd largest airport
Cologne - Bonn can also be an option

Both airports can reach Cologne by public transport. Allow 20 minutes from Cologne-Bonn airport / 1 hour from Düsseldorf airport.

🚆 Germany has an extremely comprehensive rail network.

🌙 Several trains (local, regional or national) run in the evening / overnight.

Check the train lines that run late evening/overnight to stay in a neighbouring city / village, on the outskirts of Cologne (as far as Dortmund).

👀 What to do / what to see in Cologne?

The city of Cologne is very pleasant to visit, the banks of the Rhine🚢, the greenery and the character of the old town ...

The stadium is on the outskirts but tourist attractions are within easy walking distance: The old town🏰, Heumarkt, Fischmarkt, St Martin's church and Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom, a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Some will appreciate the German museum of sport and Olympism or the private Michael Schumacher collection 🏎️ while others will prefer the chocolate museum🍫 ... You can relax in the parks and zoos.

By booking with the tourist office you can visit breweries 🍺 or discover the Ehrenfeld district famous for its street art.

And don't leave Cologne without trying the traditional "Halven Hahn" sandwich 🥪.
