NRG Stadium

The NRG Stadium is a multipurpose stadium located in Texas, dedicated to American football (NFL) 🏈 and rodeo.
The world's largest rodeo takes place there every year. A level and loading docks have been specially equipped to accommodate livestock. 
It also hosts soccer, basketball, concerts and many other events.
It has hosted two Super Bowls.

The stadium was called "Reliant Stadium" until 2014.

The stadium is home to the Houston Texans American football team, since its opening in 2002.
It is part of a complex called NRG Park (or NRG Energy), a vast convention and exhibition complex that also includes the Astrodome, a former stadium no longer meeting the standards required for current events.

🏗️ It is the first NFL stadium to feature a retractable fabric roof that closes in 7 minutes. This roof was designed to protect events from heat, preserve the quality of natural grass (replaced since 2015 with synthetic turf), and contribute to sound quality, a point that was extensively studied during the design of the stadium.
The very large amount of glass surface gives a sense of transparency to the stadium.
Two HD video screens 15m high by 84m wide are located above the end zones.
More than 1,550 HD LCD flat-screen televisions are found in public areas.

NRG Stadium will host 7 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. To comply with FIFA rules, the stadium will be called Houston Stadium during the World Cup.

Houston Rangers supporters occupy the stand called the Bull Pen in the north zone. They remain standing and ensure the atmosphere.

How to get to NRG Stadium by public transport?
METRO company offers several convenient options to reach the NRG Park complex.

🚆 By train

Light rail network, Houston's METRORail is a fast way to access downtown and NRG Park.
It consists of three lines: the red line, which connects downtown to the Texas Medical Center and NRG Park; the green line, which serves the East End; and the purple line, which connects the University of Houston and Texas Southern University. 

The MetroRail red line stops right at NRG Park. Exit at the NRG Park station, near Fannin, and head to gate 2 for easy access. The red line offers a stop less than 400 meters from NRG Arena.

🅿️P+R - Free parking at park-and-ride lots: 

Houston does not have a traditional suburban rail system. METRO company operates Park & Ride bus services. If you are staying outside downtown, park your car at the park-and-ride lots and board a METRO bus or train. It's a way to avoid parking problems in the city.

Three METRO bus lines stop within a few minutes' walk of NRG Park:

• 14 Hiram Clarke
• 60 Cambridge
• 84 Buffalo Speedway

Local bus lines 10, 18 and 73 also stop around the park.

🚕 METRO Curb2Curb offers an on-demand transport option for areas not served by METRORail. Users can book a shared ride that picks them up at their chosen location and drops them off near a METRO bus stop serving NRG Park.

The stadium is located 13km southwest of downtown, within the I-610 loop between Kirby Street and Fannin Street.

🅿️ The NRG Park complex has 26,000 parking spaces distributed across 8 car parks. They open their doors 4 hours before matches. It is advisable to reserve your space online but they fill up very quickly.

🚕 A drop-off and pick-up zone for rideshare services is located at the corner of Lantern Point Drive and Murworth Drive, near the NRG Center.

🚲 There are several spaces to park bikes near the stadium.

🛜 NRG Stadium features a cutting-edge high-density WiFi system that allows guests to connect quickly to the Internet. 🛅 NRG Stadium does not offer baggage storage. The rules regarding which bags are allowed are particular. Bags must be completely transparent with a maximum size of 30x30cm.

✈️ From George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), take the METRO 500 IAH Express train which provides a direct link between the airport and downtown Houston. Then simply take the red line of METRORail to quickly reach NRG Park.
