Morumbi is the largest private stadium in Brazil. It has hosted Michael Jackson, Madonna and a visit from Pope John Paul II, as well as numerous major events. The stadium was renovated to host Copa America 2019.

Cicéron Pompée Toledo presided over Sao Paulo FC for 10 years and strongly encouraged the construction of the stadium.
