Key facts

Originally the stadium was a cricket ground. 

In 2022 it hosted matches from the UEFA Women's Euro, as well as the 2021 Rugby World Cup

The football team at Bramall Lane was created following a massive attendance at the FA Cup semi-final between Preston North End and West Bromwich Albion in March 1889. It was named after the cricket team already in place, "Sheffield United".
