Following various naming changes, the stadium is currently called Avnet Arena Magdeburg, formerly MDCC Arena until 2024.
Nickname: Heinz Krügel Stadium in reference to the famous coach.
The MDCC Arena was built on the site of the former Ernst Grube stadium.
It was inaugurated by Franz Beckenbauer on 10 December 2006.
